Brief History

The ancient land of India portrays a landscape of vibrant cultural heritage and spiritual mysticism.  It is a land of enchantments. Unlike to any other country under the sky, India has countless number of castes, cultures and languages. The demography of India is remarkably diverse. India's population of approximately 1.17 billion people (estimate in July, 2009) which contributes to  approximately one-sixth of the world's population. India has more than two thousand ethnic groups, and every major religion is born here. Amongst diversities, the country is    functionally one in purpose and in objectives.

India Christian Bible College is historically rooted in a very spiritual movement called 'Restoration Movement.' About 200 years ago God used Thomas and Alexander Campbell along with other men of God to launch out a great spiritual revival in America. In the course of time, repels of this great awakening reached Europe, Asia, and other continents.

The Restoration Movement was started to restore the faith and practices of the New Testament Churches. As a result the brother-hood of Christian Churches was started by those who were committed to global evangelism. Missionaries from the Restoration Movement arrived in Bombay, India as early as in September 1882, to start churches and restore the existing churches to New Testament Christianity. Hundreds of Christian Churches and other welfare organizations were started all over India through hard work of Missionaries along with committed Indian Christians.

As an offshoot, India Christian Bible College was started in Thengode, Cochin, Kerala, India in June 1984. It is supported by Christian Churches and individuals who believe in global evangelism. This College was established by Dr. John Philipose who is the Founder and President and his wife Annamma Philipose.

In 1978, while Philipose was studying in US, he shared the burning desire of returning to India for Christian Ministries with his American friends who cherished the Restoration Heritage. The land was bought in 1980 and the first building on the campus was built in June 1984 and started the college. The first graduation was held in 1987. Hundreds of graduates are now working throughout India and neighboring countries.
